Question: I need to insure a 2018 5er RV ie fire/theft etc. Not insurance to tow it. It will not be towed, it will be stationary. Weekend use only. A questions I see on websites is this a destination rv? Do I answer yes? Do they kill you in $$ if you keep it on a site or is it a discount because you are not towing Anything else I should be aware of? Things I should or should not say. Also I am in MA . If you are also in MA who are you insuring with? I am open to calling around and getting quotes.Thanks in advance

Just an FYI, you don't need any other ins. to tow it. Liability is covered by the tow vehicles ins.

Ma. has very specific insurance rules. They require all insurance be with Mass based companies and that they comply with those rules. So You must work with a company specifically set up to work there. Yes, I know National companies write insurance there, But they all do it through a Mass subsidiary in order to comply with the Mass rules.In short, talk to a local salesperson.

Best bet is to contact your agent or company that insures your vehicles, I got a competitive price from mine.

Call either or Geico or Progressive and see what they say. You can bundle what insurance...

mine isn't either, but for me going through a agent I learned many reasons why sometimes these online insurance companies might be a bit cheaper. you get what you pay for.

I am in Indiana and all of my vehicles are covered by Farmers each with their own policy numbers. I pay the premium once a year when due. Been doing it this way for several years. I use a local agent for all my vehicle/property insurance needs.

I talked with both http://www.millerrvinsurance.com/ and http://www.rvinsurancepro.com. Both were very helpful in figuring out what policy would be best for me.

I would contact an independent agent. I had been with State Farm for over 30 years but got tired of them raising my rates 4 or 5 dollars every 6 months for no reason. I called Al Baenker insurance (Ask Al) here in Texas. They saved me $70 a month on my travel trailer and auto. I even got more insurance coverage than I had with State Farm. An independent agent will check with all insurance companies to find you the best rate. This will save you a lot of time and aggravation.

progressive would not cover towable rv's in ma a few years ago, not sure if that has changed.

I probably didn't write that very clearly.
You don't need any extra or separate ins to cover the liability of a towed item (ANY trailer). It doesn't cover any other aspect of the trailer (like comp, collision).
So basically, if the trailer came loose from the back of the truck and hit a car, ins would repair the car but not your trailer. The trailer would be covered by separate ins policy.
Your trucks liability automatically covers anything it tows or carries.
