Redwood 5th wheel weight

Dry weight is a low ball number that is achieved by weighing the unit 1/2 down the assembly line (I kid a bit) ,a number that will never be seen again.
e.g. my "dry" pin weight is 2840 .......actual is over 4000 # and that is with the trailer 2000# under the GVW.

So ya meaningless

The late model 2014's are manufactured after September 2014. These are newer models that have all the new changes. They actually have 8,000lb axles that come standard, now. There may be a reason for these axles to be standard equipment.

If your planning on purchasing the latest model 2014 I would suggest that you get dry weights from the factory and start adding weights such as; potable water, gen., w/d, and what ever else. You may find that pin weights on these new ones may be closer to the 5,000lbs. You also, may find that a 1 ton dually is no longer sufficient.

I'll be checking out the newest models at the RV Super Show in Tampa on the 15th of this month.

Late model 2014's manufactured after Sept 2014 wouldn't that be a 2015 model?
Dry weight is meaningless....because of the unknowns.

I also, own an F-550. Redwood 2015's will be out sometime early this year. Probably, before May.

Any of the big three Dually's will handle that load with ease.

Hopefully you will learn a little at the RV show Dave - Redwood is still 7,000k axle standard even though the G614 tire is now standard, and no, mine didn't "accidently" get equipped with 8,000K axles, they were a $3,500 option combined with G614 tires on my "old" 2014 36RL.

And you have a Dually to handle the load.

We have a 2012 36RL and weights are pretty much in line with Adam's.
Ours arrived from the factory at 14K with our options, but still minus our dual group 29 batteries and full 40 Lb propane. We've added 8K Mor/ryde IS and 17.5 Goodyear G114 H rated tires to help handle the weight.

LOL!...we actually stepped BACK...we had a Chevy C4500 (which we bought when our old 98 Dodge 1 ton DRW couldn't handle the Bighorn)...however, the only thing that was rated higher than our 2011 1-ton was the rear axle capacity. It could handle 13K on the rear axle...but only could tow a 19K fiver with a GCWR of 26K.

The new Chevy can handle a 20.5K fiver and has a GCWR of 29.2K...rear axle capacity of 9,375...the difference is this rides like a Cadillac and still gets the job done!
