Redwood has found that they're market share doesn't require the application of 8k axles. They're not being built heavy enough to offer the option. It's an aftermarket thing......o ya they did briefly in early 2014. Not a lot of Redwood purchasers were ordering them.Obviously, DRV knows the value of a decent build with an exterior thick wall system to warrant the 8k axles. There are others, also.

I agree with you--what i was told, when take a look at the weight distribution, whicyh is the weight on the pin and the balance o0f the supported by 2 axles-- the 6K axles were oOK--my comment back was -- what about a safety factor, no reply. I hope they are right.

Should at least offer it as an option, don't you think. Lifestyle does and I ordered it on our new LS36FW. Phillip

The maximum weight I have ever got on our Redwood axles is 12,900# even with a total weight of over 17,000#, so other than robustness, there really isn't a need for 8K. But the pin weight is over 4,000#s so you need the right truck.

I don't understand the nature of your post? You want to upgrade from the Dutchmen to a Redwood, but can't get 8K axles?

I also ordered our new LS38RS Lifestyle with the Mor/ryde 8K I.S. suspension and 17.5 rims&tires.

Well said if you travel a lot your suspension parts will wear out prematurely and cause issues. If you don't travel a lot the issue may never come up.
Overall loaded weight will also be a factor..

No, apparently they were optional equipment at some point. No longer an option. Can do it aftermarket, though.

Wonder why no tire or suspension problems on my 20 yr old Alpenlite? 8700# fully loaded weight on 2 7000# axles. That is a safety margin.
