Reese Revolution Pin Box

I'll be ordering a Jayco HT 26.5 RLS soon and am working on options to include. I will also be buying a new (to me)tow vehicle. 1) Is this option worth the extra money? 2) Does a short bed or long bed change the need for this? 3) Does this option change the type of 5th-wheel hitch I need re cost? TIA for responses. Camp on!

  • The Revolution works great. Some (myself included) have had problems hitching because the wedge needs to enter the hitch pretty square, especially when it's new. Once you figure that out the pinbox works as advertised.

I think mine is the worst. Thinking about round off the corners of the wedge a bit.
  • A little graphite grease on the wedge sides, or the hitch channel helps a lot when hooking up just a tad off-square.

  • I have the Sidewinder (same product) and it is a marvelous product. I don't "need" it (longbed truck with sliding Reese hitch), but it provides some "non-obvious" advantage beyond the original "save your rear truck window" function.

With the Sidewinder's 17" leverage, and 13" of slide in my hitch, I can place the maneuvering pivot point some 30" behind my rear axle. This makes parking my rig in tight spaces a dream, almost equivalent to backing a tag-hitch trailer.

    Worthwhile option.
  • If it were my decision, it would be ez. Get the Revolution (Sidewinder). Use whatever truck you have or want, SB or LB. And buy whatever hitch you like, but it doesn't need to be a slider.
