Removing Dicor sealant

I am removing a Fantastic Fan and replacing it with an AC unit. After I pry the FF off the EDPM roof I expect to have some Dicor self leveling sealant still on the EDPM roofing material.
I would like to remove all of this if possible before I install the AC unit.
Is there something I can use to soften this that won't harm the rubber beneath ?
Is there a better way to remove the left over sealant ?

  • I just R&R'd my skylight so I could recaulk it. I scraped off all I could first. Mineral spirits dissolves the old dicor fast. I poured it on a rag and only used enough to take off the caulk and then wiped the rubber dry. I've done that several times to my rubber roofs and not hurt them. It might work good if you leave that little bit of old caulk on the rubber to stick the AC gasket to but don't caulk the top of the gasket or you'll never get the AC off again w/o tearing the rubber. • A plastic putty knife (or well worn non sharp rounded edges metal putty knife).
Very warm weather or a heat gun on low to soften old sealant.

    Work slow.......it will come up.
