Replacement carpet

Hey folks ended up with a big stain in the slide out carpet on my 2006 Keystone Challenger. My only option now is to either completely replace or possibly a patch.
I'll call Keystone tomorrow but what do you think my odds are finding a matching replacement carpet and any other ideas as to where to look?

Great advice I'll consider it but it's looking like I'll be able to find a pretty good match.

Your best most logical solutions are, just live with it. Or, go to a local carpet retlailer and buy a piece big enough to recarpet your RV and hire an installer to lay it for you.

    You are exactly correct!
But I did call Keystone and they were good enough to check and see if they could contact any past suppliers. They returned a call the next day saying the two suppliers were out of business.
I'm combing the local carpet stores and trying to zero in on a color match and then I'll replace the whole slide out carpet piece.
Thanks for all the great advice!
  • For an '06 Keystone product the OEM will have exactly zero materials left 10 years later. On a slide, carpet is very easy to replace but that carpet may extend under any molding. If that is the case, take your time and just cut it free then install the replacement right up to that molding. As the previous responder noted, use staples for attaching, use the removed piece as a template then go to work. Any carpet you find at a rug store will probably be better quality too. Inexpensive staplers, good for handyman use are available at any Harbor Freight along with inexpensive pancake compressors.
  • find a carpet place that has a binding machine, most charge 1-2 bucks a foot to put the finished edge on the slide carpet (stitched edge). You can prob remove the dinette and sofa yourself, or whatever it is that is in your slide area. A bunch of square head screws hold in the furniture, sometimes sofas are just free standing though but some have a screwed in base. Once you do that you can pull up the old carpet and use it as a template, don't throw it away, the carpet guy will use it to cut a new piece for you. You can prob install it yourself as most as just stapled in. Measure an old staple so you get the correct length when using new ones with your staple gun, I use an air nailer with 1/4' crown staples.. Too long and you'll go through your floor and it will scratch the main floor as the slide comes in.
