Replacement Wheel Bearings

I noticed on the DRV website, the new Mobile Suites are equipped with commercial grade EZ lube hubs. I have a 2009 Mobile Suite with Kodiak sealed bearings. After contacting Kodiak, I have decided to replace them with new Kodiak sealed bearings or possibly go to the new EZ lube hubs that the Mobile Suites now have. My decision to replace them is based on Kodiak information that shows some history of failure of these bearings after 6 years of use.
I was wondering if others had replaced them, and if owners of new Mobile Suites are comfortable with the EZ lube bearings.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks. I may go back with the sealed bearings if you got that many years with them.
I don't know much about the EZ lube bearings.
Still have some time to decide.

Like I said be sure to keep an eye on them. If I kept our 07 MS longer I would have replaced them with Timkin bearings if possible or some from Kodiak if they weren't.

  • Our 16 mS came standard with EZ Lube but they will still install Oil Bath.

Our 07.5 came with sealed bearings. I replaced one whole rotor assembly for another reason but the other three bearings were original when we traded for the 16 in May.

From what I was told you should keep an eye on the back side of the rotor where the bearing seal is with the sealed units. There should be a small amount of grease there but if you notice the visible grease volume increasing it's time to replace the bearing. Easy job, take the rotor assembly to someone and press out old and press in new.

What I did was carry a complete rotor with studs and bearing so I could change along the side of the road if needed.

You may want to see if Timken makes a quality bearing replacement and replace all 4.
  • Oops, I must be missing something. I looked at the standard specs under running gear and it specified EZ lube. Thanks for the correction.
So, you have oil filled bearings?

  • EZ Lube bearings? The following photo of oil bath bearings was taken from the DRV website this afternoon. This is the configuration on our Mobile Suites (see signature).
