Resealing DRV A/C Dometic Penguin II Unit On Roof

Has anyone ever resealed or replaced their DRV Mobile Suites A/C unit on the roof? I think I have water intrusion at the A/C rooftop seal and would like to hear from people that know how its mounted to the roof and how to reseal it.

I've researched Youtube videos, but they all show interior mounting bolts that lie under an interior plastic shroud on the inside of the RV. However, DRV's don't have an interior shroud. They have a solid, padded head liner.

Are the mounting bolts for the AC unit under the main exterior cover of the Dometic Penguin II unit?

Thanks for your help
David

First try to gently tighten the 4 bolts from the top by removing the cover. If this does not work, you will need to pull the unit and replace the gasket. DO NOT try to use any caulk on the unit.

To install a new gasket, you will need to remove all 4 bolts, disconnect the wires and lift the unit off. Then install the gasket, sticky side to the bottom of unit. Re-position and tighten the bolts according to the manufacturers instructions.

  • I had a leak problem with a new Cardinal. The unit was bolted down from the roof with lag bolts. I contacted the manufacturer who stated they should be torque down to 50” (inch) pounds. I did and no more leak. If that does not work then you will have to order a seal.
