Restore/replace ESPN rubber roof

I used Liquid Roof Coatings of epdmcoatings for my roof and get good results.

I like the idea of a ESPN roof. You can climb up the ladder and watch football!

I used Duck Coat to recover my roof. My 5th is a 97 and the roof was in good condition but the white had weathered away in many areas. Not a very hard job, just follow the instructions and it will look like you put on a new rubber roof!

Welcome to the forum. Any warranty is only as solid as the company behind it. There is a new to town RV dealer here offering life time warranty. They will change names or go away in a few years. So Do not be impressed with this warranty. Problem with coating a roof is water can pass under coating and leak in elsewhere. Be really careful

To clean my roof I use a long handled soft brush attached to a garden hose. Run water and scrub is all it takes the roof comes out looking like new.

The two step roof coating works well and is easy to apply. Follow the instructions for the best results or have the RV Roof Man do it...never heard of him. I had a local RV detailer do mine a couple of years ago.

One caution: make sure the edpm membrane is not cracking where it folds over at the edge of your roof. If you have cracks you'll need to have the Dicor tape applied and then coat the roof.

I found a document on an EDPM manufacturer's website several years back that detailed what to do with these roofs. First thing it said was to NOT clean with anything but something like blue Dawn (no additives) and a SOFT brush. Anything with additives will speed up the natural ablating process of the EDPM. The material will loose it's white covering (over the black membrane) over time - that's normal aging and is supposed to not happen for many years. Anything that accelerates this (cleaners with additives, hard scrubbing) just lessens it's useful life. Dicor came out with it's cleaner because of demand, not because of actual need. Dicor's coating product adds a new ablative layer that will prolong the black membrane's life, but like already mentioned, it won't fix tears.

IMHO, I've never been able to understand why some MUST have a pristine, white roof - maybe their afraid of someone taking drone photos of their rigs or something. I've also read of several using the replacement roll on roof material (Rino brand?) with good results. I'll probably go that way if we need to replace ours.

More than likely the roofing material is Dicor EPDM. www.dicorproducts.com will give all the information on recoating materials and how its done.
It is not a difficult process to DIY.

I may be alittle of topic here but I notice that the roof on mine is going darker with the weather, is there a maintence like topping (or a particular cleaner) that can be applied?

My roof has never leaked nor given me any problems at all. However when I started seeing some black on the roof I purchased the Dicor products. If my memory serves me correctly I think it was a two or three step process. I was very satisfied with the results and the roof is still doing great.

From what I have read when you start seeing the black on a rubber roof it is time to reapply the coating. Now if you have experienced leaks and water damage we are not talking about the same thing.

The cost was around 300 bucks and that gave me enough for three coatings of the final coat which was an overkill but I had the time to do it.

I have no personal experience, with some of the roof coatings available. I can only say that I have read of a few members on here, that were very happy, with the results of roof coating, that they applied themselves.

I think it would be a lot of work, and a learning experience, for someone that has never done this. I don't know of the coating business that you mentioned. If someone that has done this many times, would do it for you, at a reasonable price, it may be a good option.

I think restoring these rubber roof membranes is getting more common, due to better products now available.
