Rubber Roof

I have a 2015 Grand Design Reflection 325BHS FW and the rubber roof lifts several inches just behind the front cap/roof seam while driving. There are no tears and all seams are sealed properly.

I was wondering if Grand Design declines to fix the issues 1 month out of warranty can this be fixed without an entire roof replacement? I was thinking can the lap sealant and striping at the front cap be removed and glue put under the roof in that area? Then reattach the strip at the seam and re-caulk? This assumes there is a plastic molding across the front of the cap at the top. Suggestions NEEDED and welcomed. Thanks Bill
  • I would check the warranty. I think the rubber roof has a different time period. Also did you get the extended warranty?
  • billowing tops are not uncommon with rubber roofs, just like the vinyl roofs on cars years back. don't think they will do anything about it
    bumpy
  • They are supposed to be glued down, so this indicates a problem. My only question is how do you know it lifts up? Someone riding on the roof while you're driving?

Only material defects are warranted. Hopefully the manufacturer will help.
  • This should be covered by your warranty from the factory. Sounds like the adhesive that glued the roof down isn't holding. The actual roof warranty from the roofing material manufacturer will only cover the roofing fabric not labor or other needed materials. This is often presented as a complete covers everything roof related warranty by the saleperson. Surprise! I have never seen an extended warranty cover anything roof related..

  • Thanks for the comments. I can see the roof while driving by aiming my large Superduty outside mirrors all the way up and looking up at a sharp angle. My wife (passenger) even took a photo and short video.
  • I looked at a 2014 TT (about a 28') the other day, that the wind had blown over. It had rolled about 4 times. I noticed much of the roof material had pulled loose from the glue. The glue was still sticky, had not really set up since new.

I can see why wind lift, going over a FW roof, could easily cause the material to lift.

I can only hope my FW, was not put together like that wrecked TT.
