RV roof "replacement options"

The rubber roof on my 5er is now 8 years old. I know that I will have to repair or replace within the next several years. I noticed on an RV show last night that a newer RV had a "maintenance free" roof on top. It looked like a solid floor type surface. Has anyone on this forum "replaced" their rubber roof with something else besides another rubber surface? Appreciate any advice.

I applied a liquid rubber over my about 15 year old roof 2 years ago, and was very satisfied with the results. It cost about $450, as opposed to several thousand dollars for a new rubber roof.

One manufacturer has offered ryno bed liner as an option for a couple years now. That might be the way to go except for cost. BTW the "rubber"types of roofing are used on flat roofes. Have been for decades and they usually get 20+ years out of them.

That was Excel that offered them for I believe the last two years.
But now they are closed for good. Real shame, they built a fine RV.

  • just a question: why do you have to replace a roof that is only 8 years old anyway? without damages they can last much longer than that.

I'd suggest you look at some of the coatings they now have out there for applying on roofs....

    http://www.thervroofman.com/ only $450 to reseal.

  • The folks with one of the RV Blogs and Forums I read daily has just had their roof done. Here's the URL for a list of the upgrades they have made to their RV. The roof is about the 4th item described.
