I think there are still a lot more travel trailers out there without shocks, than with them. And if you add in all the years where no one had shocks, it proves the point that they are far from necessary.
I've seen bouncing betty trailers before, but I don't think I've ever seen it on travel trailers. It would beat these cheaply built boxes to death in no time. Usually that's on unloaded trailers that are built to carry a load. Empty car trailers, cargo trailers and the like. Not saying it can't happen, but it's pretty rare and something more than shocks would be needed.
