Shock Absorbers

I just replaced the front shocks with Monroe shocks.
I had the famous clunk noise and after replacing the bell crank with a supersteer, the clunk noise was still there.
The oem bell crank is like new without any play on them, but figured since I replaced it, I might just keep the supersteer on the rv.
replaced the front bilsteins with Monroe and problem solved.
Have a set of Monroe's for the rear on its way.
Installation is easy, did mine in my drive way.
This is on a P32 chassis.

I went with the Monroe's on my 2000 HR Endeavor Gasser and have been pleased with about 10k on them so far. I wanted the softer ride and to get rid of the bone jarring hits when you hit a bridge expansion joint.

I also had the rear springs re-worked along with new rear sway bar bushings and that is what made the difference on handling for my coach.

Then added the shocks.....

Like I said in my original post, I'm looking more for handling than a soft ride. I definitely don't want a coach that feels like I'm riding on the cobblestone riverfront of Savannah, GA in a covered wagon, but I also don't want one that feels like I'm driving through mush. I don't have an accurate weight yet, so I'll "wait" until I have the "weight" in order to weigh my decision as to how much weight I want to place on bounce protection. LOL!

After my blowout, I'm replacing ALL of the remaining tires. I will be doing several things to my suspension over the next few winter months....shocks are first and I may replace some leaf springs that seem to be sprung, then Davis Tru-Track front and rear, then Safe-T-Steer. Maybe overkill, but I plan to use this coach a lot and I want safe and sure handling.

I agree that the heavier the motorhome the ride will be ok with stiffer shocks like Bilsteins. I vote for KoniFSD and have used them on lighter and heavier F-53. Monroe makes a good moderately priced shock.

I went with Monroe's on my 1994 33' Holiday Rambler with the F53 chassis and I'm very pleased with the ride I now have. The set of four cost $246.64 delivered and I installed them myself.

How much does your MH weigh? From what I was told by a chassis shop that does a lot of MH's is the Bilsteins and Koni's were good for heavier MH's,he talked me out of these because my MH weighed 15,500 lbs. I was happy with the ride of the Monroe shocks.

I replaced the shocks on my 31" Safari gasser w/Bilsteins and also just replaced the DP w/ OEM Bilsteins. I am happy w/ the ride & I don't think I would notice that much difference w/ Koni's or Monroes!!

There are Koni shocks and then there are Koni FSD shocks. Which do you have??

Mine are the FSD, I have fronts and rears that I installed back in the spring. I saw where someone spoke of a Koni adjustable for the Ford F53, but I don't see any listed on the Koni site and I remember just before I ordered the FSD's in the spring Koni told me they did not have an adjustable for the Ford F53. Please explain "There are Koni and then there are Koni FSD" Which do you suggest I should have purchased??

Koni does make different shocks besides the FSD, but not necessarily for all applications. I've been very pleased with my FSD's since putting them on in 2006 or 2007.

The review did not do the Monroe RV shocks, WHY, I put on new Monroes on my 2008 Bounder 32W and there was a difference is the ride, the bumps were smoother and quieter, I find this review short..

Monroe RV shocks is the way I went, the ride is soft and still good sway control and is the least cost of all RV shocks.
