Sleeping in garage ?

Hello, we are thinking about getting another toy hauler fiver now that our daughter is almost 6. How many let their kids sleep in the garage and do you have any issues that you can share with me. We sold ours right before she was born, but would like to start taking our quads with us and more than likely get another golf cart. Thank you.

I think I would "test the waters" if you are planning on leaving items with gasoline in the garage and have your kids sleeping in there too. Before putting your kids in that room with the "toys", let them sleep on the master bed and YOU sleep in the garage one night and see if you get fumes. If you do, you'll know what you have to do.

I for one, would never sleep in the same space where gasoline is stored, in any type of container! I don't even keep gasoline store in the garage attached to my house. I also have a detached garage where gasoline is stored with all my mowers and stuff.

When we lived in town and the garage was attached to the hosue, I stored all gasoline items in a utility shed behind the house. No gasoline was ever under the same roof I slept under

I would not keep any fuel in the garage if she was sleeping in it. The fuel station on the RV means you do not have to take fuel cans with you and I would not leave the quads in the garage while she slept. If anything, we would be taking an electric golf cart and that would be parked outside as well.

No disrespect, but he doesn't know what he's talking about. All toy haulers are designed to have engines full of gas inside them. Once you unload the toys the gas smell is gone.

Plus that gas smell is an aphrodisiac.

Your kids will be fine in the garage.

  • We haven't had anyone sleep in our garage, but have full-timed for 1 1/2 years and haul our Goldwing with us. We've never had any fuel/oil smells while it is on-board or after it is removed. We use the garage as an office/sewing room when stationary, and if there were odors, my "boss" would sure let me know. ;-)

  • Thank you... I guess the only concern was the smell. I think she will be just fine.
  • Our toy hauler is designed so our main bedroom is in the garage. We usually take the bikes out and then lower our happy-Jac bed. On some one night stops, we lower the bed low enough to use it as an upper berth, and sleep over the bikes. There is no problem either way. We never notice any smells or have any issues.
  • Our garage has two queen beds, its own TV, roof A/C, heat, and 1/2 bath. Our granddaughters sleep in there all the time. When friends and family travel with us it's like having a guest bedroom. What issues are you talking about?
