You guys are all correct. I can see the metal trim at the bottom of the slide. The ends of the trim allowed water to penetrate the plastic covering that is supposed to keep the water away from the wood. I looks like I have a project ahead of me.
My other slides have a different type of covering on the wood. Almost like a paint or something. It is smooth black plastic or something.
My questions are:
1. Can I use the material found on my other slides on the repair slide? What is it?
2. Do I have to remove the wood or can I put a 1/8" thick metal plate under the entire slide and seal off the edge to prevent further damage. I saw a video online about installing "drip edges" on the slides. I will be doing that.
The problem areas are centered around where the 2 slide rollers are. I dont think I have to replace the wood. Maybe put something around where the rollers go to help distribute the weight.
Thoughts or ideas?
