Suburban Hot Water Heater SW10DE

Does anyone know if there is a second switch for the electric for hot water, found the gas but not electric. We just purchased a 07 Summit Ridge Reserve by Americamp.
  • My 2004 Ameri-Camp has two switches. One on the kitchen wall is a full size white rocker switch the second switch is outside in the water heater compartment.
  • Suburban's have a black rocker switch in the outside part of the heater compartment. It's located in the extreme lower left hand corner - I have to get down on my knee's to see it.
  • Be sure to have water in the tank before you turn on AC heat!!!! Chris
  • If you haven't already checked it out, check the braker. I always click it off when winterizting, this year forgot to turn the breaker back on.
  • Mine has a switch outside behind the heater grill, that's for electric. The switch on the inside is for gas (next to the water pump switch). Also have a breaker for the heater as well. During Hot weather, I turn off the outside switch and use gas. When I don't need air conditioning, I'll turn on the outside switch for electric.
  • Ours does not have an inside switch for electric. Only for propane. Have to turn on the electric switch outside on the water heater itself. And remember to turn it off when returning home.
  • There is probably a wall switch near the kitchen sink area, it will be a lighted toggle type. Next on the outside, behind the heater "grill", on the lower left is another toggle type switch that may have a pin through the toggle. This is a "safety" switch that is in place to prevent accidental power to the element if tank is empty. Normally, one will keep this switch "on"and use the inside switch to turn the element on/off.
