summarize a fifth wheel in Southwest Florida

Considering leaving our fifth wheel in Southwest florida during the summer. what is the correct way to summarize the unit to avoid mold, moisture etc.
  • We live in the Ft Lauderdale area and have had our fifth wheels stored all the time outside. I leave the fridge doors open. I also have covers on all of my vents and leave them open, Never had a problem with mold and moisture.

  • I am in northeast Florida and don't do anything special other than leave the fridge doors open. If you are leaving it the entire summer your water may evaporate from the toilet bowl.
  • I always summarize "fifth wheel" as "FW". :-) Actually, I'd do what I could to store in covered storage as the sun is fierce, even if the humidity may seem the worst of your issues. I'd certainly put a goodly quantity of RV antifreeze in the toilet and all the drains. I'd be sure to leave 5-10 gallons in the black tank to help keep any remaining solids half-way soft. Cover your tires, even if under cover. Park on boards to get the tires off the ground, too.

  • Mine is parked in open storage there except when we're using it and we've never had a problem. Leave a vent open an inch and leave the fridge doors open.
