I believe all the latching is done below the wedge. I have to go with wrong source for moving the trailer like a forlift with a catch for the ball only.

The hole in the capture plate is bigger than the king pin.

There is nothing on the capture plate that moves. No reason to lube it or worry about any wear. Looks to me like somebody pulled it with something other than a Super Glide. No big deal. All the wedge does is keep the Pin Box from rotating in the hitch..

The newer superglides have plastic wear plates so Pullrite recommends simply using WD40 or other light oil on the slide rails.

The *gouge* is readily apparent.

The 5th wheel trailer moving "tractor" is usually a large fork lift.

However - possibly they move trailers with some kind of "mule" equipped with a 5th wheel hitch - like a pickup.

Any good service facility *should* have a Super Glide #3336 Conversion Adapter (and probably sell them also).

Possibly the service facility did not have:
1. The adapter.
and/or
2. Either your (or their) PR SG "head".

I liberally spray Slip Plate on all the hitch moving parts including the pin, capture plate, jaws, and tubes. Hitch has performed flawlessly in 3 years of use with no wear marks. Phillip

That would explain it. Not a problem. If the looks bother you take a file to it and re-paint.

But really...the problem I see in your photo...GREASE UP THAT PIN. If not expect the jaws to wear on your hitch.

Not a crack. Thats a seam. Its welded on the inside. Weld appears intact.

There is paint scraped off on the side. What I'm referring to is the front of the V up near the pin. In the pic you can see where its gouged a bit.
