Superglide owners that use Slip Plate spray

Yours has a plastic/nylon between the metal sliding parts. Use WD40. The older ones had metal to metal contact, use lithum grease, slip plate or such like.

That's the first I've heard of lubing the bottom of the tube. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.

When I disassembled mine to convert there was some minor wear on the lower side of the tubes. Yes the primary weight and friction is on the top surface. Must be in turns or braking etc. when there are other forces in play on the cam-arm assembly.

I also finished with a bit of sanding, degreaser and last some BrakeClean to hopefully remove all residue.

The newer model Superglides work with WD40. You would have to determine if you have one of those models. The one I have was intended to be used with white lithium grease which I used for years but tended to be messy (grease attracted dirt and messy to clean). Pullrite started recommending a dry silicone lubricant called Slip Plate to use on the older model hitches like mine. Yours could be the newer variety that is made to work with WD40.

I touched up every trip at first but less and less as time progressed.

I've had some discussion with Pullrite about that bearing and there have been at least a couple of different designs of it; the newest, I believe, is a nylon bearing that doesn't require any lubrication, and I don't think the older ones can be lubricated.

I do spray a graphite spray on the vertical inside sides of the way tubes (as well as the top sides).

I use EZ Slide, not Slip Plate, graphite spray which is readily available at Tractor Supply.

I'll sort of touch up the graphite surface after a very long day of towing, and if not every other day. If you look carefully at the top surface of the way tubes, you can see if bare metal is showing through the graphite film. When in doubt, spray.

After spraying, be sure to turn the can upside down and spray until clear.
