- rehlessExplorerElectric will work if you have juice. I like charcoal and wood, doesn't take much wood for smoke. I have a Weber Jumbo Joe and thinking of getting the new 14.5 wsm.
- HelmseyExplorerI have a 30" mastercraft electric smoker and it has made a few trips with us. It rides perfectly in front of the 5th wheel hitch in the bed of the truck.

This is my choice. Have a larger Traeger that's a real hit when we break it down to take with but it is a pain. Nothing like real wood
I second this recommendation, I have the PTG myself, and use it ALL the time. Neighbor tells me all the time I am killing him with the smells that come from it. Did pork spare ribs yesterday, porkchops the night before, and a roast last weekend. - a64armtExplorer

This is the route we will probably go for our next RV. We have a Weber Smokey mountain 18.5" Smoker that we use at the house and we have taken it on trips. However, the best part of smoking is what makes it horrible to put in an enclosed storage bay. While our smoker will break down, it is usually a mess and leaves a lot of smokey odor if placed in an enclosed area too long. We've always hauled it on our kayak trailer or in the bed of the truck.
The Traeger looks like a good solution, but some owners have temperature control problems. A good solution is posted here...

Here is another option...

Good luck.
OJ - fla-gypsyExplorerI use a LP smoker when I take one. They perform well and it is easy to regulate temperature and smoke on them.

I thought you were talking about taking a person who smoked along on your trip!!! That's another subject for a different time. Sorry I have no recommendations for a smoker.
X2 LOL:S - fj12ryderExplorer IIIPeggy bought one of these Bradley Portable Smoker and it actually works pretty good. It's an actual smoker, not a repurposed BBQ grill. It doesn't work well when it's windy and you need a thermometer to keep track of the heat under the hood, but all in all it ain't bad.
- tragusa3ExplorerI use an 18.5" weber kettle grill on trips for grilling and smoking. It does double duty fairly well. Yes, more trouble and more work than electrics, but more flavor too!
