Tire monitoring system

I am debating about adding a tpms to my unit and have a couple of quick questions.
For those members that use such a system what make and model are you currently using? As far as tire temperature at what temp should you start to worry about tire failure?
We are picking up our new 2014 Montana High Country 305 RL within a couple of weeks and was woundering if I should have the tpms installed.
Thanks in advance for all your responses.

I've been pleased with my TST 507 system. Many members here also have Tire Minder, Tire Tracker, etc. In my view, as long as it works, the brand does not matter but it's very important to have the tire monitor system, especially on something being towed as you'll never know you've lost a tire until you stop.

Regarding the tire temp question, here's a quote from the TST507 install manual.

    x2 on the TST 507.

I like to be able to monitor tire pressures and temps while towing. A tire can lose air quickly if punctured while driving. So simply checking pressures and temps only when you stop will not prevent tire damage, and maybe trailer damage, if it develops a leak while you are in the middle of a long tow.
  • Would not be without a tire pressure monitor, and am very satisfied with TST. I've got the system with replaceable batteries - don't remember the model number. First tried a NVision, but it gave too many false alarms. Switched to TST and never a problem.

It has alerted me to a leaking valve stem and three slow leaks from nails. (Funny, I went for several years without picking up a nail and then I got three just last season.) Was able to stop before any damage to tires. Tires would have been run flat and ruined without tire monitor. Monitor system has definitely paid for itself.
  • We have the Pressure Pro system. We do a lot of driving at night and on one trip we had a tire go down and traveled lord knows how many miles with it beating the devil out of the camper and adjoining tire. Lots of damage to the camper. Bought the system before the next trip. On another trip, with tire monitors installed, we had a tire blow out. I knew it immediately and was able to pull over before any damage was done. I won't travel without them now.
