LMAO......most 150/1500 trucks are rated to tow over 10,000 lbs these days with half the models rated at more than 11,000 lbs. I guess there is no use grossing 80,000 lbs with the Peterbilt when it would be much safer at 65,000.
..So you're recommending the OP tow his 15,000# 5er with a 1/2 ton truck?? Sometimes, as mentioned in one of the last post...One needs to know the RAWR of his truck, (I'd say GVWR, but most laugh at that rating anymore)....The manufacturers GVWR rating will squelch the 10,000 to 11,000# 5er at times with a 1/2 ton due to the pin weight...but, that's nothing more than my opinion. ....
I would say, with the newer 2013/2014 trucks, a 3500 SRW truck would handle the OPs 5er....Heck, they even have brand new 2500's now that have GCWR of 25,000# plus.....I like the stability the dually offers on a heavy to heavier 5er, (14,000 and up)...
If OP wants a dually, buy one....You may park a little further out, but other than that, mine is my daily driver and have no issues with going places and parking.
again, a 1 ton SRW truck should be able to handle what you want to tow...with a possible pin weight of 3,000#, I'd look at the trucks GVWR...er, I mean, RAWR, for those who don't buy into GVWR:) I do, but I'm not real bright:)
