TrailAir pinbox

So I replaced the pinbox on my 5th with a TrailAir box. I am happy with the way it took care of the up and down shock but now I have a chucking problem. When I ordered it (etrailer.com) the triglide model wasn't available from them. My question is where can I order the tri-glide attachment for my hitch. I haven't found anywhere that shows this part. Ultra-fab says it can be installed on any trailair pinbox.
  • I have the non Tri glide TrailAir. I have air bags on the truck and found that lowering the air on them helped the ride considerably. Thinking about just removing them and softening up my Ranchos and just let the hitch do its job.

I will try different air pressures but the problem is not the up and down movement. The 5th is jerking back and forth on the rough roads. No slop or banging in the hitch that I can determine. I've got a number to call the TrailAir service center and will call them also.

What are your weights? Do you have air bags, if so what air pressure do you run? Is your truck single or dual rear wheel?

The Tri-Glide portion is just a different jaw. I can be added to a std Trail-Aire hitch. I have a Tri-Glide it works okay. I'm not sure it's worth the extra investment. They aren't cheap. I would look at your hitch and make sure all is well there first. Trail-Aire is owned by Lippert. You should be able to order the Tri-Glide portion from any dealer that sells the hitch. Prices will vary greatly from one source to another. You might try Lippert direct.

Do you get a clunk when starting and stoping with the TriGlide?
  • yes. If I start slowly - there is no clunk. In bumper to bumper traffic it is VERY annoying.

It's been driving me crazy thinking something was loose on my B&W. I was just looking at the Tri Glide and pushed it with my hand and it clunked going both ways.

I do get a slight clunk at times and my Super Glide is adjusted up tight. I'm not 100% sold on the Tri-Glide jaw although it does tow nice except when starting or stopping. I've never towed without it except with a standard pin box without air ride.

My setup came with the trailAir kingpin air bag, it worked great no chucking. I bought the TriGlide because everyone said how great they were. All I can say is now I get a bit of a tugging feeling going over overpasses.

I have thought about re installing the regular jaw and selling the TriGlide.
  • Lippert bought out Trail Air just for You all to be in the know also dealers sell for less than as when I was price matching I found out...I have the roto Flex but I have had the bag and shock Trail air on 2 other units...Bushman
