The impact shock between the truck and trailer is absorbed in the hitch. The trailer just kinda floats on the hitch which provides a much smoother ride in the cab.
I went with the Air Safe hitch. With the 4 air bags and 2 shocks on the hitch it sure makes for a smooth tow. My truck (F550) also has the AirLink Ultra Ride set up on it so the Leaf springs or gone!!!! What a inproved ride!! Even when empty this F550 rides like a 1/2 tine truck.
