- GooseloverExplorerMyth it is! They are down! We knew from having our previous 5'ver that the sun can and will damage carpet/furniture, so we learned from that. But the guy doing the PDI said having them down all the time will "remove" the pleat.
Thank you all so much for clearing that up! - MTPockets1ExplorerStrings broke on our larger rear window shade. Ordered replacement MCD roller shades. I've seen these on some new 5vrs and really like them. Looking forward to getting it on next week.

What do YOU do?
That is a Myth. The Window Shades are designed to be used. What would be the Point of leaving them up? If some Idiot told me that, I would ask, what is a Window Shade for if not to be used? I would then ask them if I follow what they say, if they would sign a Document saying they will replace any Furniture or Wood that fades.
That was my first thought. Why have 'em if you can't use 'em - Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIYou were told wrong!
Inform that person that they are spreading mis-information' and to stop it - rhagfoExplorer IIIWe leave ours up most of the time the 5er is stored! Our windows are UV coated so we don't get the damaging rays. With them up during the day you can't see in, but we can see out just fine. Then after dark even with lights on inside it looks very dark from the outside.

What will I do? Waiting for the miserable pleated shades strings to fail so I can remove them and install roll up window shades in their place. In the meantime, mine are more down than up with no ill effects.
FYI I've restrung a couple of mine and it's pretty easy. You can get the cord at a fabric store. Here's a couple links for you:
