Used 2009 Fleetwood Prowler Regal 335RK with problems

We saw this one nearby last week. This one had the ceiling coming apart in one small area, like there was a leak, with stains.

Then, there was a really soft area in the floor in the LR, so we did not even consider it. I don't recall a musty odor.

However, now that we are really liking the rear kitchens, this is the only option nearby that meets our other criteria.

Are used units in this type of condition to be passed by or should we even consider trying to get a really good deal on it and fix up? There is only one of these in the whole country!!

They are asking $32,900, but we think it is worth a lot less because of these issues. Any thoughts on this?

  • Well...that knocks it out of the ballpark.

We habe seen umits that have pretty much everything that we want...just too expensive or too big. I think we will find something eventually that we will be happy with.

Just how expensive is it to have one built?? And who builds custom?

  • Someone is way over priced for that unit to start with "if it was in good shape" which it is not. They probably owe that amount on it. There are health issues to mold, both working to remove it was from trailer and any you do not 'get' removed to use after the repair.

RUN RUN RUN. Take your time, you will find a good one. Like said earlier you may have to travel a bit to find the one you want and haul it home or have it delivered.

If you are asking you don't have the skill set to fix, and pros charge about $100 per hour for labor, add up fast.
Our 1st 5er was an older King of the Road 28' unit it was beautiful, except for a soft floor in the kitchen. I am very handy, and have lots of the right tools!
Long story short replaced the back 6' of the rear floor re-framed 2/3 of the back wall, and the lower 1/4 of the drives side wall including rebuilding the wheel well. My labor was free, materials only about $250 to $300. It took me about a month of evenings and weekends to complete. It was a great unit once done, but if I would had a shop do it several thousands of $$$.
    Bad Floor out.

    Surprise! Bad back wall!

    Back Wall re-framed.

Our 1st fiver ready to roll, we really enjoyed this rig for three years, then moved up.

Just so you know we only paid $1,500 for this rig.
  • Yeah, many thoughts on this from the "Been there done that" side of me.

If a unit is a leaker and you see evidence of water damage from the leaks, I would be prepared to do a lot of pushups, bring your cardio up to snuff and "RUN FORREST RUN"!!! Run as fast as you can!

I have found that from personal experience, the damage you see is about one tenth of the actual damage. Once you rip it apart you will find way more than what is initially visible.

33 Grand for a leaker is very grossly overpriced.

I have been there done that and I'll tell ya, fixing a soft floor and ceiling is BIG TIME work and money. Even if you can do this yourself, you will still be in for a massive amount of work and it is truly not worth it.

Find something in good shape and even if you have to pay a few bucks more, it is well worth it!!

Trust me on that one. After spending thousands of dollars and about a thousand hours on fixing a rotten old Citation, I can honestly say it is not worth it!

The amount of work you have to go through to fix a soft floor and ceiling properly is staggering.

    Run! Run away!
