Nothing wrong with buying used, especially if you are a savy buyer, know what you want & know what to look for. Bought ours, truck & trailer, at 6 months old from first owner. Long story short, they had bought a huge mistake, RVing was not for them & they wanted out. They had a model that was on our very short list.
Our truck is somewhat rare, being a 2WD dually & not 4WD, but no matter. It does not do any winter driving & is not used for off roading or as a non RVing daily driver so 2WD drive works well for us. How often do those with 4WD use 4WD anyway?
Trailer size wise, we tried to stay below 32 & wound up at just <36'LOA. No real problems with SPs & NPs. The trick for us is to arrive before mid afternoon. The lower mid 30s models have everything that the monsters have except room in the middle for a square dance.
