I purchased a 2015 Livin' Lite Quicksilver VRV 7x20 last week. It was quite a road trip from Mass to outside Detroit, Michigan to get it. It was the closest dealer to have a model I wanted in stock with the options I was looking for. My biggest concern was my pulling such a large trailer behind a BMW X5. I am using this trailer to pull my dirt bike to events so adding a lot of cargo weight shouldn't be an issue. The trailer weighs 3750 as equipped. The BMW has a 6000lbs tow rating. With me and my GF and the dirt bike we should be able to keep it lite.
Pulling it back 780 miles showed me that the BMW is surprisingly a great tow vehicle. The 8 speed automatic and the turbo 3L 6 (gas) pulled this thing up the hills of PA and NY while accelerating and passing poor souls in the flasher lane. One sway bar helped with the cross winds in Ohio and from tractor trailer buffeting. I also got 11.9mpg on the way home. (Compared to 23.7 on the way out) I'm really jazzed at how well it worked out. The BMW brake controller is a rebrand of the Tekonsha Prodigy P2. It worked great. The X5 has air adjusting suspension. When we hooked up the trailer the back end of the X5 didn't move. I didn't hear anything click on while we dropped the hitch onto the ball. There was no sag.
I now need to figure out how to mount some U brackets on the wall so I can keep stuff bungeed to the wall and not slide around during transport. I am also picking up a 3000watt inverter for dry camping at the race tracks. So I need to lock that down as well. I am wondering what I should do for mounting brackets. Plus mounting toilet paper holder and towel rods. Special screws that won't incur galvanic corrosion?
