- rhagfoExplorer IIIWell under 12,000# GVWR, put a set of good LT 235/85-16E's on it and run for many years.
- azrvingExplorerThere are probably better choices in 16's. I put Firestone transforce 16's on my FW. People sometimes go from 15's to 16's just to get away from tires like that.
- donn0128Explorer II235 R16 tires? Go buy a decent quality LT tire and be done with it. Dealer is going to "give" you a set of tires? You will get what you pay for.
- RWjSIM2003ExplorerWe have Goodyear ST235/85R16 Load Range G on our Trailer so far have had no issues. when they wear down I will be changing to 17.5" Rims and H tires for the extra protection I am about maxed out per tire on the current G tires on the trailer.
- SAR_TrackerExplorerWestlake is considered to be a brand of tires to avoid, according to CarsDirect. Tires such as Westlake, which are made in China, are alleged to be of substandard quality and have been the subject of forced recalls by the U.S. government.
Various state Attorneys General and the Federal Trade Commission have recalled Chinese tires such as Westlake because they have been deemed unsafe and unable to meet American standards of quality. Westlake tires are made by the China-based Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company. The company's tires have been accused of lacking basic safety features such as gum strips that keep steel belts inside the tire from separating and damaging the rubber.
Carsdirect link - 2oldmanExplorer IICouple pages of hits on a search. I was going to post the search results for Westlake (one word) in this forum but I cannot because it has percent signs in it.
The powers at be here have now made it impossible to post anything with percent signs in it. - midnightsadieExplorer IIdo a google search I never heard of them.
