I have a 2007 Weekend Warrior 26' SuperliteIt has the 3/16" tongue metalIt doesn't have any issues yet but my buggy is pretty heavy so I decided to reinforce some stuffI searched the web and found some ideas including some that were done by weekend warrior themselvesI did these horizontal braces that another guy did to stop the frame flex and wall droppingAnd now I want to reinforce the tongue. A guy said weekend warrior welded a square frame under the tongue like this. But it only goes back as far as where the tongue meets the trailer.I'm not sure if that's good enough. Couldn't it still bend between the box and where the tongue meets the side frame?A member here did a different type of fix where he welded 2x2 square tubing underneath the tongue channelI'm not sure if that would be betterWhat do you think?Like I said, I don't have a problem yet, I just don't want one in the future

I say this with the sincerest goodwill: I would recommend that you abandon any modifications to that trailer and trade it on a trailer that is properly rated to do what you want it to do. I am not opposed to home repairs and modifications to certain items. However, when a trailer needs reinforcing, it may indicate either excessive wear, a manufacturing defect or a dangerous overload situation. In any of these instances, you may be risking your own safety and/or the safety of your fellow drivers by continuing to use the trailer or attempting to modify it.

Looks good, if you want some professional input you might look up Hap Hazards recent post about the guy he used to fix his WW. petrel, the WW issues in the Toy Hauler community are pretty well known. Many have had reinforcements done and continued to have a good RV.

Many have had reinforcements done and continued to have a good RV.Thank youThe 3/16" thick tongue on mine indicates the trailer was made after the frame issues were resolvedThe modifications I'm making are for problems that affect all toy haulers regardless of size/manufacturerI'm super happy with my RV and I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon, it's one of the only toy haulers that are able to accommodate the size of my buggy, have a front cabin and be able to be pulled by current vehicle

That is good to know, but why do all toy haulers fail?

One side done, goes from the tongue plate back the where the tongue mates with the side frame under the toy hauler

Now I just need to do the other side of the tongue, paint it, and load the buggy and stuff for the weekend

Well I moved the stuff out of the garage and was able to pull the truck and trailer far enough in to get to my 230v outlet
The square metal tube has rounded corners so it's pretty much pre-beveled
Two 6' sections means 24' of weld... this could take a while lol

Then just leave a little more gap to get more penetration.Have no knowledge on your machine.Maybe a little bevel on your joints will help if you had none before.Flux core is a good wire,I have never used it.I'm sure it's approved.Do not weld across the beam,always lateral.I don't have a mig or tig at home,I just stick what junk I do now with 5p (e 6010) or lo 7018.Retired now for about 16 1/2 years,so what little I knew is slowly slipping away(78 1/2 yrs young)

Well I'm running a hobart 210 multi voltage unit and I can't get to the trailer with 230 volts and the chart on it only shows a setting for 3/16th metal with flux core on 115 volts, the chart only goes up to 1/8th thickness at max power at 115 volts with solid wire
think I'd be good at that setting with solid wire and 3/16 stock?

If you want more penetration just a little more gap.Flux core to much danger of trapped flux in weld.We welded pipe
with bare wire.Penetration comes with heat speed.I'm speaking of all size large and schedule.(I know the experts here will shot me down)

I got it all prepped and happy to say the tongue wasn't bent at all
It appears to be angled up a little but I ran a straight edge across the bottom and it's perfectly straight
The wife is in town and she's going to pick me up some flux core wire, all I have is solid wire for mig and I want more penetration
I'll post some pics tomorrow when it's finished

You mean like purchasing a trailer built on Lippert frames which many had issues with? And the only fix was to beef them up with more steel to reinforce the frame.
