What happens after agreeing to a price?

We bought out first 5th wheel used from a dealer. They were great and gave us a complete PDI indoors withe everything hooked up and working. Even showed me how to check all gas connections by doing it while I watched. There are many quality dealers out there, you just need to ask around.

We bought a new 2012 $50000.00 fiver for $32000.00 less taxes this year in April.

Last year models sometimes get discounted close to consumer low book when the new models start showing up.
At least in our area (central California) they seem to.

Staying a night or 2 on the dealers lot to test all functions is the best pdi.

We just bought a used toyhauler from CW. They made us give $2800 deposit other than that the sales experience went very well but I was very dissatisfied with ourPDI. They basically just asked us what we wanted to know. They did not have water or sewer hooked up and you could not even put out the awning. Any questions were answered with I don't know. We currently own another RV so know what to look for but it would not be good for a new Rv owner. The microwave did not work and they did replace it.

When are the sales low?

Wear old clothes when going to look. First thing I do is dive underneath the thing to check for cracks in the welds at spring hangers & condition of the springs looking for sagging or cracks.

The last trailer I looked at had been left all winter with water in the tank. It had turned into a giant ice cube breaking the mounts holding it up. It was resting on the axels. Bye bye!

The unit we eventually bought was an orphan. The manufacturer had gone out of business a couple years before & this was one of the last of the breed. A dealership owner had bought it at liquidation auction for his own use. His wife did not like it so it sat in a corner of one of his lots till we showed up with our truck loaded with all of our saved possessions. We had lost our previous 5er in a blowover.

This dealership owner was made to understand that he either offered his very best price right away or our truck, our insurance check & us would be 100s of miles away, never to return by tomorrow.

He got his best pencil sharpener out & the price tumbled. Money talks especially at a time when sales are slow.

I wouldn't stress over buying too much.
You will have some sense of whether a salesperson is honest or not.

Just one recommendation if you feel pushed have no fear of excusing yourselves and walking out.

Don't be pushed into any deal.
When you look at trailers it's ok to be wide eyed...just don't be too impressed or let on that you absolutely want any particular unit.

All buyers get bent over somewhat some more than others.

Make it difficult for the salesperson to read you.
If they figure you out you may be doomed so to speak.

Just be sure you remain in charge during the buying process.

When you say "in writing" does it mean that it is printed out or hand written?

Best advice...have them show you how it works, video it for your reference later
Get everything in writting. (everything!)
use the term "out the door" when you make your offer. It means nothing else aadded... all taxes, tags, prep and anything else they can think of cannot be added to your offer.

When we found our 2012 Heartland Landmark Key Largo used. I mailed the owner a Certified check for $5000. (Unit listed for $120,000. And we got it for less than half) to hold the unit for us to look at. If we bought it that went towards the payment of the RV. If we did not like it, He gave us back the check.
Now we did fax paperwork between each of us. On this agreement and both had signed it. And when the person bought our used RV, We did the same kind of deal. And when he got a chance to look over the camper. If he did not like it, I would have given him back his $$.
Now these days lots of people will tell you anything to make a deal. But after they have any cash for you. Its take it or leave it. So be careful and make sure its in writing.
