To accommodate your family - and *way*, WAY easier on your wallet than a new pickup, suggest you explore an HDT.
Tow *anything* you want in a vehicle designed for long haul creature comfort, with all the bells and whistles you could ever want - including VERY advanced fully automatic trannys - like Volvo's I shift.
For the 50-70 grand mentioned, you could have a newer truck, that will last a lifetime in RV use - with outstanding re-sale value should you choose to sell sometime down the road.
(The pre-owned ones go very quick on the "for sale" section of SKPS)
There are several/many folks with a large family going to that option, as they (new owners) appear regularly on the HDT forum.
Some carry a Smart on the deck, others like "bmzero" use both the deck (for his very "trick" RZR) and a toy hauler for other toys or the Smart.
Most/many states allow "converted" HDTs to be registered as Motor Homes.

HAHA. Nice. I wouldn't mind, but my wife would have to drive this to take the kids places, go shopping, etc.. if we are parked somewhere for a couple weeks.
