What's covered after Keystone 1-year warranty expires?

I know the whole routine of aftermarket warranties and am not interested in reviving that dead horse for now. I'm curious what is covered beyond my 1-year warranty so I can decide whether or not to look into one of the extended ones.

I know my roof has something like a 10 year warranty. And the appliances like the refrigerator, A/C, furnace and even the microwave have at least a couple years. I guess the next most expensive thing might be the slides? Or, how about water intrusion on the front cap or side walls?

So far my Hideout has been completely trouble free through the first 10 months of ownership. I'm just trying to educate myself as to what I am taking on after that magical 12 months expire.
  • When you bought your rig, did you get a packet with all the individual appliance information (fridge, ac, heater, roof, etc)? You should have, it contains all the warrantee information for each item installed and any maintenance information you nay need.
  • Frame might be 2 or 3 years, after 1st year, not much else. FYI, if taken care of you should get 5 to 10 years before things start needing replaced. Some even longer. 2 extended warranties also have serious exclusions and it's always the exclusions that need coverage.
  • It is your responsibility to research your owner's manuals and find the answer to your question. Just asking on an internet forum will likely give you answers that can be incorrect. Assuming you are financially covered by a non existent warranty just because it was posted on the internet is foolish.
  • That 10 year warranty on the roof is a joke! All that is warranted is that the roof material will not wear out before 10 years. It is NOT a warranty against tears, leaks, finish etc. I have never seen a rubber roof wear out. Have seen some get pretty bad looking (mine included), but not worn out.

I also do not think you can get a warranty against leaks. If it has not leaked during the first year any that show up later are probably due to a lack of maintenance. I have not seen any company that will cover that aspect of the rig after the first or second year.

My opinion is that the best thing is to be your own warranty expert. Do all your own inspections and required maintenance and you usually won't have to worry about a what comes next regarding a warranty.:)

  • Components have their OWN mfg. warranty......differs depending on component
(water pump, water heater, furnace, fridge, A/C, stove top/oven, microwave, converter/inverter, batteries, axles etc)

Frame and structure are RV mfg......1-2 yrs

Wow, tough crowd! Guy is just asking a question. I doubt he's going to the bank with everyone's individual answers. Just doing his due diligence.

To the OP, are you on the Keystone Owner's Forum? That might be a better, more friendly place to ask your questions.
  • X2 what Poppy says go to the Keystone Owners site if ya got a Keystone or to the Grand Designs Forum if ya got one Etc.. you will for sure get better and more friendly responses

MAYBE. If you buy a Norcold fridge from the mfg it has a 2 year warranty. When Heartland installs it in an RV and sells the RV the warranty is 1 year. Several other parts are the same. Read the fine print.
