We just bought a new Fuzion 404 in Colorado a month and a half ago, and already have a non-working rear AC, a window that fell out en route, and doors that fly open in the lovely Kansas wind. Oh, and a lost set of keys due to the doors flying open! Ha. We are 6 hours from Denver, so going there for repairs really isn't an option. That leaves us with Abilene, Kansas, which is 2 1/2 hours away. So, I called Keystone and asked if we could have a closer dealer work on it, even though they aren't a Keystone dealer. He said fine, as long as they send in estimates, etc. Well, of course, the dealer isn't thrilled about doing warranty work, but of course they'll work on the camper at our expense. So, whatever. We'll get the work done, and then try to get the money from Keystone. Even if we don't get it all back, I'm fine with it. It beats making 3 trips to Abilene. The keys, however....ugh. I'm kinda sick of dealing with Keystone at this point, so should I just call the dealer who sold it to us? Keystone can't seem to figure out which keys i have. We knew there would be issues, but I wasn't prepared for the headache involved in getting them fixed.

They added some caulk. They did not even test it with water before or after the repair. What a joke. I am not holding my breadth it will be fixed when I shower in it this weekend. Of course it sat there for 8 days before they looked at it. I HATE that Keystone makes you basically go to a Keystone dealer. I could have taken this to my local shop and had it back in a day or two. I will call Keystone next time and see if my local shop can fix any warranty repair that comes up from now on. I don't mind paying up front as long as Keystone will reimburse me 95-100% of the repair. They should reimburse 100% since my local shop is $35 less per hour for service work than CW.

Cecilt - Although your shop charges you $35 less than Camping world does; rest assured that Keystone doesn't pay Camping World the same rate. All manufacturers low ball their rates to the repair shop which, if they are busy, is why most don't like doing warranty work.

I'm curious now what Keystone's allowable per hour rate is. The shop we're going to charges $95. I pray it's a quick fix. It really makes me rethink even turning in any future issues, unless they're really big issues. Too much of a hassle. We have some trim work that keeps falling off, but I'm not even going to worry about it now. Hopefully my husband can fix that. Cecilt, that stinks that they had it so long, and then didnt really do much of a fix.

I have had the same cost of repair problem with another warranty company. They claim (after the fact) they will only pay truck "Flat Rate Book" for RV repair. The service center I was sent to will not work on RV's at the truck flat rate. They claim they are much harder to work on and it takes longer. I could not drive the motor home, so I had to pay the difference, which was almost twice what the Gold Seal warranty would pay. No more extended warranties for me. I put $5000.00 in a CD and so far have not had to touch a penny of it. That was 10 years ago.

These problems always remind me of some manufactures in the 60's & 70's that were located in Detroit. Remember what happened to them? Look out RV manufactures, Tokyo may zero in on you too.

I am curious, why did you buy 6 hours away knowing you would need warranty work? It would seem to me to buy where you know you will get good service nearby.

Warranty work far away seems to be a common complaint on this forum.

It's a shame that there isn't a dealer closer that will work with you. But honestly, if you took your Ford, or GM, or Toyota to a independent shop, would they pay the shop to do warranty work? I'm really sympathetic to your situation and hope that you can get something worked out.

I'm not saying you're totally at fault, but perhaps you should have gotten all the details about warranty work hammered out before you bought from a far away dealer. We checked with the local dealers before we bought our Fuzion from a dealer in Knoxville, Tennessee. We've already had to do some warranty work and it was a non-issue.

I imagine it is not such a problem in the more populated states but sometimes out here in the wide open spaces, there is no dealer for a particular make of trailer close to you. I know that there is no dealer for our trailer in the state of Kansas. We traveled 6 hours when we bought it. Last summer we came back from a trip through Indiana to have some warranty issues fixed. But we also got assurances that we could use the local independent RV repair shop for other warranty matters that might arise as long as the factory was contacted prior to warranty repairs being made. If for some reason the local independent shop could not fix the problem, we would have no choice except to drive at least two hours to get repairs. And we live in eastern Kansas; it would be even more of an issue if we lived in western Kansas. But that is the way it is and sometimes you just have to do what you got to do.

Four season RV in Abilene is a Keystone dealer. I don't know where you are to offer suggestions of another dealer. I use discount RV in Hutchison for repairs.

I would buy anywhere else but my local dealer. Get held up on the sale price then get terrible service anyway. Why pay thousands more and receive nothing in return? A/C and other appliances can be worked on under warranty at any dealer or repair center for that particular unit and they will be able to bill the manufacturer directly. Doors popping open is a simple adjustment. Keystone should be able to authorize a independent repair shop to fix it.
