Don't use one and havn't for some time now. I stay in larger parks and doubt they have a major problem with pressure or they would not be in business. Many of these leaks and blow outs are weak spots in the RV, not because there was excessive pressure. Maybe someday I will find that park with 80 psi of pressure and will spring a leak and start using one,,,,maybe.....
Burst hoses or plumbing "mishaps' (leaks) aren't bad if/when thery're outside.
Inside is a whole different "maybe" story!.:S
Spent 30 years checking lots of city water pressure as part of my job.
Eighty (80) psi is "standard" throughout the city where I worked - including at the two campgrounds there.
If it's regulated (reduced) *at* the campground, great.
If not - or their regulator fails - you get what they get..:@
Some areas of Los Angeles County CA receive 100 psi on the main along PCH. Maybe the same main for campground in Malibu - maybe not.
Your dice to roll..:C
. - Chuck_GailExplorerHave personally stayed at two different CG's where water pressure was fine until after midnight. Then pressure went very high. Easy to tell those who did not use as regulator by the water flowing out the doors and underbelly, accompanied by load cursing.
I suggest everybody connecting to shore water use a regulator. - RECVEH2005ExplorerI agree with E=mc2 on both the water regulator and the surge protector.
Mike - E_mc2ExplorerI don't get why someone wouldn't use one. They are only a few dollars and they may save a camping trip. I have always said that it takes one incident like a flat tire or something stupid like that to ruin a trip. When you look back on that trip you will only remember the incident not all the fun you had with your family. I for one always use one, I know I may never need it but what does it hurt to use it. I also will never hook to campground electrical with out a surge protector. To me the simple insurance (regulator, surge protector, etc...) is worth it so I don't have to worry about things like that. Just my .02.
- kennethwoosterExplorerWe spend the summer in Colorado. We start off with pretty good pressure. I bought a watts regular. I really dont think we had over 30psi in July. I always use one a regulator. I love the watts. Allows me to adjust as needed.
- mamestraExplorerI've been in a park where the water pressure was over 120 psi not thinking I had my water filter hooked up before my pressure regulator, blew up the water filter. Won't do that again, I too always use my pressure regulator.
- steelpony5555ExplorerIf you use one of those cheap RV ones it will reduce the amount of water you get.
