- JW_of_Opechee_SExplorerI recently traded our 2008 Cameo 35SB3 for a 2010 Cameo 36FWS and was happy with both the trade in value and the purchase price from RV's for Less in Knoxville TN. I will keep this one a long time, the quality and amenities mean that I don't even waste my time looking at new ones. Any issue can still be taken care of by me or a good RV repair place. Most all parts are available through after market dealers. You can get a lot of support on the Lifestyle-Carraige forum. Lifestyle has finished using the Carraige frame as of 2016 so a full wall slide will no longer be available and the rear storage has dissapeared. Thor is producing new Carraige and Cameo fivers because they bought the name. Lifestyle took most of the employees and the design equipment. If I were you I wouldn't discount looking for a Cameo and work hard on the pricing, there are dealers like RV's for Less who just deal in high end units and move them quickly.
- janegowestExplorerOh...! Now, I see! So, if we buy a Cameo, we should expect a really low resale price, huh? and/or have a tough time selling it as a private party....AND, if we decide to trade it in, will get a really low trade-in value...
So, if we bought a Cameo for 32K from a dealer and 2 years down the road decided to trade it in, what could we get as the trade-in value? - Jerry_BExplorerUsed higherend RVs have to compete price wise with brand new lesser quality brands. When we bought our used mobile suites, I had to look long and hard at the value of buying a new trailer versus the suites. But quality won out and we have been extremely happy with our purchase.
- AllworthExplorer IIThose of us with 08 or 09 Titamiums just plan to keep them forever!
- Irelands_childExplorerPrice, weight, orphan.
Our last 5er a Glendale Titanium became an orphan in 2010 and the trade in dollars in 2014 had dropped like a lead sinker. It sat on the dealer's lot for over a year.
Our last TT, a Sunline Solaris became an orphan ----- and you know the rest of that story.
The TT before - again, an orphan but was a nice starter RV for a young family and was sold at a reasonable price.
We looked at many to replace the Titanium and opted for a well known unit, a Montana, over several brands that may have been better equipped or fancier looking but may have limited resaleability in 5-7 years --- as orphans - lee_worsdellExplorerThey also bought out the rushmore line to. I purchased a 41ft Lincoln that had been sitting on the lot for over a year. The dealer had changed brands to jayco so I guess they couldn't sell it. It was 95 msrp after it sat I got it for 59 have had a few issues but getting them all worked out.
- LantleyNomadEvergreen is now building Carriage style units. Using former Carriage employees and building techniques.
If you are truly after a Cameo you may want to check out Evergreen vs.overpaying for a used Cameo. - travelnutzExplorer IICarriage RV's do hold their resale very high but some go overboard because they are willing to wait to get close to what they want for them or just keep'em. Another factor is that Carriage RV owners are usually not motivated to sell as they can't replace the quality of their Carriage RV with about any of the cheaper made corner cutting RV offerings being built today. Most are on light weight Lippert frames and that doesn't set well with a lot of knowledgeable RV'ers. Especially the full timers as their RV is their HOME!
Occasionally, a owner or RV used sales lot will get motivated to sell for one reason or another and will drop the price and usually then they sell quickly. It's all about the almighty dollar! - onekgExplorerI wanted to buy a Carriage Cameo because of the quality and reputation. When they shut down I started looking at used units and the prices were very high. I watched for a couple of years and people thought they had gold I guess. I finally gave up the idea and kept my Aplenlite for another couple of years.
- Road_PhantomExplorerI traded in a 2006 Holiday Rambler back in 2011 and the trailer was still on the lot until early this year.
