That's heavy fsujeepeer
I'd upgrade with a 15K or 16K HD receiver.
When our truck was new, I replaced the factory receiver with the Putnam XDR 15K. It's a great hitch, but they're not available anymore. - fsujeeperExplorerIf I remember correctly the trailer gvwr was 12600
- chipsterExplorerI thought the GVWR of the trailer is only 12000 or so?
Info I find is
Dry Weight (lbs/kg) 7039 / 3192.9
Payload Capacity (lbs/kgs) 4701 / 2132.4
Hitch Weight (lbs/kgs) 1340 / 607.8 - fsujeeperExplorerWe were first towing with a 2004, f350 dually, factory hitch, 1200 tongue rating, 12000 overall. i was over the rating of the hitch. We towed with the truck for two years and 20k miles. The truck had some engine troubles and we purchased a 08 f450. That truck had had a factory 16k hitch with a 1600 lb tongue rating. We towed with the 450 for 9 months before selling the truck and upgrading to a 5er.
As to upgrading the hitch, it wouldn't be a bad idea. We were always near the limit of our trailers gvwr. Our trailer had all the factory options, and loaded weighed 12 to 13k. We weighed the trailer empty and were over 9500 lbs. I towed the trailer twice with my parents f250, when the 450 broke. While the truck towed it, there was a noticable difference between that and the dually. - chipsterExplorerSo should I be upgrading my receiver on the TV as well? Only rated for 1000# I believe.
