Forget the terms like "dry" or "shipping" weights. Both are misleading and could get you i. Over your head. Besides, no one except maybe the delivery people have ever towed a trailer near one of those numbers. Instead always look at a trailers GVWR. While you may never get to that point what ever you do end up as a scaled ready to camp weight at least there will be no surprises. Personally and I do not consider myself overloaded, but we generally scale at 13,500 pounds with a trailer GVWR of 13,750 pounds. Same for the advertised pin weight. My pin weight is right at 3000 pounds. A bit more than the recommended 20% for a fifth wheel.
