Huh? You've been on here long enough to have read the many posts relating that GY stepped up to pay for damages caused by a G614 going bad. I'm NOT bad-mouthing the Sailuns, just relating others' experiences that I've read about here.

They won't have to pay for damages if they don't fail, I have yet to read a failure with the S637's. Sure at some point any tire can fail, but there sure haven't been any bad reports about them .

It doesn't make sense to me to pay nearly twice for a tire that can explode, and leave you beside the road regardless of who gets stuck with the damages, I have insurance for this kind of thing. I think peace of mind for a more dependable tire is much more important then who gets the bill for a blowout . Time will tell on the Sailuns .

My experience with the Goodyear G614 RST would tend to confirm that a major design change was made circa 2007. Our 2004 Mobile Suites 36RE3 came factory equipped with the G614s. In 2007, with the G614s 3 years old, we lost 2 tires to tread separations within a 3 month period (August & October); the 2nd failure did >$2500 damage to the 5th wheel. Goodyear replaced the first tire which did no appreciable damage when it failed. Goodyear replaced all remaining tires after the 2nd failure and paid to repair the damage to the 5th wheel.

The replacement G614s ran with no problems until July 2010 when I replaced them with 17.5" Michelin XTAs. Were they on the verge of failure at 3 years old like the first set? I don't know (in retrospect, based on the experience of others, I doubt it), but we were making a trip to Arizona in 100+ degF temperatures, and I didn't want to take a chance of any tire failures.

Based on my experience with the 2nd set of G614s, I don't have any problem recommending them to other 5th wheel owners.

It makes a lot more sense to buy a tire you don't need to pay for insurance.

Mind you, I do keep proper inflation, do a visual at every stop while in travel, keep tires covered when parked any length of time and never use Armor All. You know, proper care. Look after your good quality tires, rated for your demands and they will look after you.

Complete nonsense, not hardly. , As I said there has always been the if factor with the G614's, I know how to take care of tires, and have taken care of my G614's, but quality is quality , and if its lacking somewhere there will be failures, and the G614's have had more then their share of failures . Actually on the many different trailering web forums in the late '90s and up to the late '00s era the G614's RST had a terrible reputation that rivaled a ST tire for reliability issues. To Goodyears credit they made a redo on the G614 RST sometime around the late '00s time frame. Seems to have worked as we don't see as many G614 RST failures reported when looking at the many RV and non RV trailer web forums.

Lots of hype for Goodyear honoring G614 warranty on this forum. On other web forums its just the opposite.

The Sailun S637 hasn't been on the market long enough to see how its going to last long term but with no reported structural failures reported from all type of trailer forums it may be a winner.
Operators on a couple of commercial forums have reported they are on the 2nd/3rd sets. Some of these folks will run 75k - 100k miles a year and use two sets a year.
Rv trailers sit most of the time so 5-7 years should tell the tale.

I agree the G614's have been doing better, but there is still the failures . I too am running the G614's, bought them in the spring of 2010, been an excellent tire for me, but I am no where near their max rating. They were far from being as high priced as they are now. Being that they will be six years old next spring, I will look pretty hard at the Sailun S637 . That gives them nearly another year under their belt as far as dependability. We will see if they are still getting the excellent reports they are getting now.

Its far from complete nonsense , and no one should discount the many reported failures of the G614's. Granted in most applications they are going to perform okay, but that still have that if factor about them.

I know what works and so do you! I agree the GY's had problems in the late 90's to about early 07. I know for a FACT since it was my Dad that this happened to not just some internet story, his 96 HH Premier came with GY "G" tires and he had three blowouts until he bought a set that were dated 07 from that point never a problem. He puts thousands of miles on a year as I do.

As far as GY taking care of their customers he turned in pictures and a bill each time and no questions asked they paid the bill and gave him a new tire.

GY's policy is if it's "road hazard" they won't pay but for anything else they will.

The tires that came on my 07.5 MS were dated around may 07 the spare never hit the ground. I upgraded the tires and wheels in 2012 to GY "H" 17.5's and those tires were trouble free for thousands of miles.

My money, my choice I will always run GY tires on my RV's unless they start failing. I like Michelins and BFG's for my trucks.

Personally I have not read about a GY "G" or "H" failure for a LONG time!

I am so confident in them I don't WASTE my money on tire monitors. That is my choice also.

The Sailun sounds like it has been good so far but I would rather spend my money here when possible and for the BEST quality product.
