Yet another tire post!

On the way back from NC traveling South on I 75, my left rear tire blew! Fortunately I was checking the lanes when it happened, as I herd nor felt anything! Did some sheet metal damage, and took out the left rear stabilizer/ Jack! These RV manufacturers should at least offer an option on tires, as mine came with the Chinese "junk"! I know I have read the posts, it is as much my fault, as anyone's, I was going to get around too it, sooner or later, it was hard to justify changing one year old tires no cracks or dry rot, plenty of tread left! I thought I could get away with perhaps another year before I needed to change them! But I could not get away any longer!

Two other tires showed signs of imenent failure so I had to buy 4 new BF Goodrich tires. 14 ply "G" rated tires. Anyone have these or similar tires on their rig? Hopefully I have learned my lesson, word of advice for anyone in my situation. First, get your dealer to change the Chinese Junk before you drive off the lot, second, if you currently have those tires do not wait until you have a blow out to change them, they will fail!
  • I run LT truck tires with great success and without the cost of expensive G rated tires plus the associated rims to mount them on.
  • Exception to the rule is the Chinese Sailun tire which co far are better than the Chinese sh....

They put 95 pounds pressure in them, estimating the weight of the rig. Good to know that the rims should be good to 123 lbs!

I did check on this first. A Grand Design rep told me the wheels on the 2016 Reflection 318RST can handle 110-123psi so I'm good to go.

  • I'm replacing my factory tires with Goodyear G614's as soon as I get my new 5th wheel next month.
  • first thing I did was buy new heavier rated tires for my TT. I towed from dealer to tire store and told Gary what I wanted and he got the job done for me. tires from the manufacture are junk and rated for the bare minimum. any weight such as water or black tank will make the tires ready for a massive blow out.
