Alternative spots in CO

We are looking for relatively cheap campgrounds in Colorado. We are also curious about if there are alternative places other than campgrounds to stay, such as renting out a lot?

My suggestion would be Clear Creek Campground located in Golden, Co.
Owned by the city with FHU. We've stayed there before they have quite a few long term people.

There are lots of campgrounds in the area. Did you say where in the Denver metroplex you're settling? North, South?

I lived in the Denver area for nearly 40 years. I saw snow there every month except July. Why not get an apartment?

I think we have gone a little off topic. I will look into going a a month or 2 earlier and skip the winter months. It is 100% cheaper to get an TT for 6 months or longer than to rent an apt. We were looking at a 1500 dollar a month place before we decided this route. What I came here to ask was about the spots to live other than private campgrounds. Which we have found for 475$ a month year round.

I don't think it will be cheaper to live in the winter in a TT. Campground monthly rent in Denver or Colorado Springs will be from $375-$800 per month plus you will more than likely pay metered electricity, plus the cost to heat with propane in the winter is very expensive. Plus living in a TT in the winter is very challenging. I would agree a small efficiency apartment would be the best.

All the state, federal, and county campgrounds that I am aware of have a 14 day maximum stay.

You will need to look at options other than public campgrounds.

I should preface by saying we are hoping to have a house by November. I have read the "winterizing your RV thread" on this website. I planned on following all those tips. Do you think it is still not doable if we follow those tips?
