Full time RV Insurance

Looking for some recent comments regarding RV insurance for full timers. We have been full timing since Jan 2013 and are with progressive right now. We're coming up on renewal so I'm looking for options. GMAC gave my a quote about 3 times what we're paying with progressive. I've requested quotes from GEICO and Blue Sky also. Any suggestions from full timers out there?

We bought ours through Miller Insurance, an insurance agent, and ended up with GMAC for our toad and Victoria for our RV.

For full timers, you should also get umbrella coverage.

Just curious why does a full-timer need Umbrella coverage anymore than a s&b. Not arguing just looking for info as were starting fulltime the end of next month for a year or longer.

    Two reasons:
    (1) The coverage you get on your RV & car covers less than a house.
    (2) House is in one place. RV is moving around so more risk exposure.

Basically, umbrella covers the gap caused by (1) & (2).

That's what a 'Full Timer' insurance policy takes care off.
Same type of policy that is on a S&B home.
  • Techwriter thanks for the info I'll be checking with my insurance coverage this week.
Didn't really think about until your post

  • We had been with National Interstate for many years but when we moved our address to SD the rates skyrocketed over a FL address. We worked with them and they found that Progressive could provide the best coverage at the best price.

  • We have had Good Sam for over 10 years and just up graded to a full time policy that increases our contents coverage. You need to look at what ever company you go with that they will increase you content coverage since you carry more than just the weekend campers!!
  • Yes National Interstate is what I got and a very good one. They know RV's
Look on Good Sam page to get there.
