Full Timers with place to "land" aka RV park or Lot?

I have been to SKP site and I see and went to a couple of there Co-op sites and like you mentioned they do have a waiting list for lots.. (must mean they are popular). Plus in reading other forums all you hear is good things about them and the parks.

I am just looking around at this point as we are not heading out on the road for at least 4-6 years.(more or less)

#BarbaraOK.. I did see the feedlot you are referring to and wondered the same thing.. Not only the smell, but an inhumane way to treat animals in my view. (we only buy free range, local grass fed, grass finished beef)

I appreciate all the input from you guys/gals as I/We are not on the road, staying at places like some of you are, knowing what you know. It might be different if we lived closer but for now in NC that is not a real possibly.

I have been looking at SKP, Passport America, and C2C as one way to sorta get a handle on camping cost and doing some boondocking on BLM and such lands out west as well..

again thanks for all the input it helps me more than you can know so keep the ideas coming.

It's not all about savings, To me the pride of ownership has value too. The ability to have a small building on the lot, a Casita and screen room maybe, a shed to store a few things and to be able to landscape the lot according to your likes and desires.

I have actually been looking at coast 2 coast deluxe and RPI plus memberships. I see them on craigslist/ebay for 500 bucks with the yearly fees to c2c at like $150, RPI at $130 and the campground in GA $99 yearly.

I read forum where the campground at some are nice and other OK..

I have looked at skps and passport america as well..

NOW that what i'm talking about.. that is a heck of a good idea for sure. how many months are you required to stay. is that a contract type deal? You a bartender or grill cook or both or what..

do you get to change days you work or is it constant.

if you don't mind me asking which resort you at.. or you can message me if you don't want to let everybody in on the deal.. :)

Is this the first year or have you done this before at this place.. how about other places and your procedure for getting this type of position.. go to office and ask?? :)

Have you been in Casa Grande on a warm day when the wind is strong from the west? You do like the smell of feed lots? And after a week or two, what are you going to do in Casa Grande? You're not close any arts centers, museums, good shopping, or good restaurants. Florence is a LOOOONG drive away from the valley, so not much to do.

There are a few parks in Mesa that sell their lots outright, as well as a few that rent. I think you would be well served to spend a couple of winters (3-5 months) in different spots to see whether you really like them or not. After 5 years in Mesa, we found the park we like and put a park model on a lot so that we can spread out during the winter stay and get back into the motorhome for summer travel.

As this is about to become our 5TH year full-timing and I'm glad we made the choices we did as far as our lots. We bought our lot last January here in Florida and bought our lot last July in Ontario as after considering how much we've already paid in rent and the amount of time we still plan to continue this lifestyle it made financial sense as in the end we'll have two properties we can either sell off and recoup most of our costs or give to our son if he wants to take up "snow-birding", also the biggest thing about our two lots are that they are both RV condominiums owned by the residents which allows us control over our properties and their futures opposed to the whims of some owner who's interests are solely his own! I just heard yesterday that a friend's favorite RV resort in key West will be closing next winter to make way for condo developments which in turn will limit RV spots and probably help drive prices up. Now I'm not saying this is the way to go for everyone, we stayed at our lot in St.Cloud for three winters and fell in love with the place and had no reservation's pulling the pin when the owner offered it to us as everything we wanted is there and in Ontario we were in what was called "the best RV resort in southwestern Ontario" only to find our new spot was waaay better on all points, go figure!!
