I think you need to check different insurers and/or change agents. We're TX residents (full-timers) and our motorhome insurance for a year is $1177 through National Interstate. The Jeep is $553/year. Our agent is Miller Insurance, 503-636-6347 Granted, everyone's insurance will be different depending on many factors - driving history, address, accidents, age, etc. but $5500 is outrageous.
