Fulltiming it in sonoma county, California

Hello all,
My question is, does anyone know of a campground for rv park in or around santa rosa, California that allows extended stay besides the KOA in Petaluma. Mu husband works for the new casino, and needs to find a new spot before the summer rates kick in at the koa. We have checked out some of the trailor parks including the wine country resort in Rohnert Park. That's a bad one by the way. Just a parking lot all squeezed together Nothing resort like about that. We have a class A Safari with 3 slides. It seems nothing in this area has any room for that. Any ideas out there? We have seen River Bend resort, also to squeezed in, and the one in Windsor. Thanks, Diana

  • Why not ask the casino mgmnt. if you can stealth camp in their parking lot? If they know you are fully self contained they shouldn't mind. I'm sure there are some lurking out there already.

  • You may want to check into a Thousand Trails Zone membership. They have a nice CG in Cloverdale. I'm not sure what they offer for extended stay but it's worth checking out.

  • We currently live in River Bend. You've pretty much listed all the parks in Santa Rosa area. You could look into the Sonoma county fair grounds. You look into Bodega Bay. There's a couple of rv parks that allow long term.
  • Look at some of the State Parks, i.e. Half Moon Bay SB, Sonoma Coast SB, Botha-Napa State Park, which may not have large spaces and it has no hookups. If you look on the San Francisco side of the Golden Gate, which is not that far from Santa Rosa, you may find an RV park which can accommodate you. Have you tried San Francisco RV Resort? Below is a link to the Reserve America website with a listing of some RV parks on the San Francisco side of the bridge; which does mean that you will pay a toll every-time you come into San Francisco.

In your situation I would consider Tradewinds RV Park of Vallejo.

Vallejo is a SERIOUS trek away from Santa Rosa if one is working there every day. Not really doable, IMO.

One of my best friends manages the Royal Mobile Manor MH park in Windsor (707-838-2546). It seems like a nice, quiet place to me and they do have a few spots for trailers. Don't know what's available or what they charge since I don't live in CA any more, but it couldn't hurt to check out.

For that matter, you might consider looking up MH parks in areas close to Santa Rosa and just cold-calling them to ask if they have any spots for trailers.
  • When we stay to visit friends in Santa Rosa and Sonoma, we stay at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds RV Park. Certainly not a luxury place, but have long pull thru sites. Not sure if they are open all year.
  • In your situation I would consider Tradewinds RV Park of Vallejo. It's a little south of Santa Rosa but has very reasonable rates for the area. I nearly lived there, but didn't want to have to trek across the bridge to get into San Francisco everyday. It's not in the best of areas, but for a short term full-time arrangement it would work. Their Yelp page gives you reviews and a number. Good luck.
