We are "wanna be" full timers. We plan to full time it about 9 months of the year as of now, with the goal being the full 12 months. But we have this issue we're not sure how best to deal with, and ...

In addition to plastic storage containers, we buy in smaller quantities and not restock when we know we're going to be at our home base for a month or so. That way we can throw away small amounts of some things without feeling guilty.
