I had the acrylic nails when I was working. When I quit, I cut them off. They are really not good for your nails and make them thinner and weaker than they already are. I keep mine cut short and buff them. It did not take long to get used to not having fake nails in fact short nails are perfect for being on the road. I Also take 5000 mg Biotin - good for hair and nails. (The widows peak I was getting now has hair!!!)
