It’s a jungle out here. We are 64 and have paid for our own health ins for 20 years.
This year it bumped up to $2000 per month with deductibles.
It got better for a few years after ACA but it’s going up 20% a year the last few years.
It sucks. Crossing our fingers they don’t screw up Medicare.
We use FLORIDA Blue.
Sorry for a foreigner asking a question here, but is that 2000 a month or 2000 a year? Typo? What is a “deductible”. I’m assuming a certain basic per use charge??
Thanks in advance.
John and Angela. - Cobra21ExplorerAge 56, me $10,000 deductible, my wife $7500 deductible @ $850 per month.
I'm ready for single payer or Medicare. Could have traveled the whole U.S.

Wow, I had no idea the premiums were so high. How much of a deductible do you have?
About $6000 per year person but copay kicks in about $3500.
When we were in our 40s and decided to be self employed we were paying $500 a month low deductibles.
The older you are the more you pay.
It’s the nature of the health insurance industry and for profit Medical businesses.
Single payer is the only soulution. - JKJavelinExplorer IIII'm getting ready to retire in a few months, not quite 63. I'm learning how expensive insurance is, and if I went on Cobra through my employer it will cost nearly $1500 per month for the 2 of us, and I've also learned that through Obamacare if you keep your taxable income (you have to include Social Security) below $64080 a year you can get almost a $1200 a month credit--resulting in almost a $500 per month premium but with huge deductibles. I hope the current administration doesn't ruin this. Trying to keep politics out of this but I'm all for universal healthcare.
