Replaced Light Fixture Over Kitchen Sink

My original fluorescent fixture failed (ballast smoked) two years ago. I needed a replacement quickly and ended up with another one just like the original. The ballast smoked in it last week so I just sucked up not having a working fixture for the few days it took for my new LED fixture to arrive.

It arrived late yesterday and I installed it immediately. What an amazing difference. No more F8T5's for me. This fixture is made by Thin-Lite, but they don't make it easy to find. Their catalog number is DIST-LED616P. It is dimmable and the attached picture is at about half brightness. On high it is "very bright" and being 6" wider than the original fixture it lights up more of the counter area. Great Product so far.

Thank you sir. It is 6" wider than the original so I have more light across the counter area in addition to dimming and since the individual LED's dim the fixture has even illumination across the entire lens regardless of light level. And install was 2 electrical wires and 4 wood screws. Total install time was less than 5 minutes and that included getting and putting up the tools required - 1 #2 phillips screwdriver. Two wire nuts were included with the fixture.
  • You can buy LED tubes to replace the existing tubes. This requires a bit of rewiring. Much less expensive than replacing the whole fixture.

My coach has seven fixtures that I recently modified for LEDs. Rather than replacing just the tubes I gutted the fixture and put in LED modules. It cost me about five dollars for each fixture.
