Water Pressure - Pressure Reducer

I noticed this morning that my shower was flowing stronger than "normal". I went outside, after the shower however, and looked at the pressure gauge on the 5'er side of the Watts 263A pressure reducer. I keep it set at 50 psi, but this morning it was on 58 psi? I tried to reduce it in the normal manner, but it crept right back up to 58 within a few seconds. Soooooo, I turned the water off, removed the 263A, put it on the tailgate of my TV. Over the next 30 minutes or so I disassembled it and cleaned it with CLR and an old toothbrush. It was pretty nasty inside after 4 years of full time use. After the cleaning I installed new parts from a rework kit I have had since I bought the 263A and put it back in service. After a couple of minutes adjusting the pressure it now holds 50 psi like it used to.

I have also just ordered another rework kit. I hope I don't need it for another 4 years, but it is nice to have it.

Maybe I go overboard at times, but I also have spare water heater thermostats (both the propane side and electric side), replacement water heater electric element, and a spare fresh water tank low point drain valve. I am absolutely convinced the existing valve will freeze and break at some point, but it hasn't down to 8 degrees. I'm sure it freezes, but it is still operational. I know it would fail if I didn't have the spare.

I haven't even talked about all of the fuses and spare light bulbs. Maybe having a home base in a town of 680 population and no parts of any kind even close is the reason.....Or maybe not.
